Dr Edward Owens is the Director of the Beacon Dental
Clinic and is a clinical specialist in Prosthodontics
(Restorative) & Implant Dentistry.
The Prosthodontic & Implant service is comprehensive
& includes the assessment of individualised
patient needs. Patient care assessment includes
clinical assessment, the utilisation of diagnostics
& dental models/casts & dental CT scanning
(where indicated). The information gathered is fundamental
to fully assessing each patient’s clinical
needs. Patient treatment planning, based on the
findings of the assessment, is central to patient
treatment |
options and clinical care. The service includes patient
assessment & individualised patient reports based
on clinical findings. The restoration of the patient’s
dental health to full function is achieved through the
elimination of dental disease, the restoration of dentition
through several treatment options. These frequently include
dental crowns, bridge options, implant restoration along
with dental fixed & removable patient treatment options.
Dental esthetics & sleep apnoea appliances are also
part of Prosthodontic dental specialist services.

Dr Lewis Winning provides the periodontal service
for patients referred to the Beacon Dental Clinic,
at the Beacon Consultants Clinic. The periodontal
service is comprehensive & includes the assessment
of individualised patient needs. Patients are referred
from General Dental practices for assessment of
periodontal disease and patient clinical suitability
for the placement of dental implants. Patient assessment
includes the comprehensive clinical assessment,
the use of radiological diagnostics & dental
scanning (where indicated) to fully assess each
patient’s |
clinical needs. Individualised treatment planning is essential
to patient care. The service includes the management of
periodontal disease, comprehensive assessment of patient
suitability for dental implant placement, bone grafting
(where indicated) & dental implant placement. Patient
treatment can be carried out using local anaesthesia with
or without conscious sedation.

Mr Andrew Norris provides the oral surgical service
for patients referred to the Beacon Dental Clinic,
at the Beacon Consultants Clinic. The oral surgery
service is comprehensive & includes the assessment
of individualised patient needs. Patient care assessment
includes the utilisation of diagnostics & dental
scanning (where indicated) to fully assess each
patient’s clinical needs. The service includes
the removal of decayed or impacted teeth & dental
supernumeraries, the treatment of soft and hard
tissue abnormalities, patient bone grafting and
dental implant assessment & placement. |

Patient treatment can be carried out using local anaesthesia
with or without conscious sedation or with general anaesthesia
in the UPMC Beacon Hospital. |
